Events - More Challenges

Wherever you choose to rise to the challenge, whatever you want to do, you’ll have WellChild’s support all the way. We’ve put together some suggestions of possible events (from the sublime to the frankly ridiculous) for you to think about!
We will support you all the way and will help you with your fundraising, training and PR.
- Dragon boat racing - are there 16 of you (plus a drummer) who can row in one of a number of events across the UK?
- Mascot Grand National - yes, that's right and you can take part in WellChild's "Nurse Nessa" costume.
- At the gym, get other members to take part in a spinathon where the idea is to cycle the same distance as the Tour de France. Alternatively you could "swim the channel" by taking a week to swim the equivalent distance.
- Climb Snowdon, walk the Cotswold Way or even cycle to work for a month.
- Take part in the famous Marathon des Sables which is a 6 day/151 mile endurance race across the Sahara Desert.
- Row the Atlantic in the Woodvale Challenge
- The Tough Guy Challenge, a cross country run and assualt course, takes place each January and July in Wolverhampton.
Some events require you to pay a registration fee but once that’s done, get on with your WellChild fundraising and register here for a fundraising pack.
You can do anything. Here are just some of the things people have chosen to do for us:
In 2006, 15-yeard old Jordan became the youngest Briton to trek to the North Pole, raising money for WellChild - visit Borge Ousland to find out more … Keith completed the Trans-Rockie challenge as part of a team who covered 12,000 miles and 600km in six day – look for details at TransRockies… 75 people abseiled down Birmingham Children’s Hospital…Mother-of-two Miranda completed the gruelling Engadin Cross-Country Ski marathon…Tom secured his place in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest wing-walker in the country...Stephen raised nearly £2,000 in the UK Iron-Man Triathlon… Michael climbed Mt Cho Oyo in the Himalayas…Robyn cycled around all seven Canary Islands…Steve, Adam, Jon, Peter and Andy cycled from Madrid to Lisbon – this year they’re tackling Milan to Rome.
