Legacies
Why not leave your mark on the future by giving a donation to WellChild in your will? It is a gift which can help save young lives.
Legacies are vital to our work as we receive no government funding.
Your thoughtful act can help future generations to have a long and happy life.
There are a number of different types of legacy gift (bequest) you can make.
WellChild can provide you with useful information on legacies and making or changing your will. We would be pleased to send you this free of charge - call us on 0845 458 8171 or email legacies@wellchild.org.uk
Why make a will?
Making a Will is something that most of us put off doing; it seems complicated or we are too young, or we can always do it tomorrow. But if we want to be sure about how our money and belongings are distributed when we die, then it is vital to make one – for our own sakes and for those of our family and friends.
Writing your will
You can of course write your Will yourself, but a Will is a legally binding document and so our recommendation is that you use the services of a professional to assist you through what can sometimes be a complex process.
In addition to drafting your Will, a qualified lawyer will also be able to advise on ways of reducing your inheritance tax liability - for instance, by making gifts in your lifetime and donations to tax-exempt charities and institutions.
Donations in lieu of flowers
These days many people are asking that a donation be given to a charity instead of flowers at a funeral. This is another way you could help us to help sick children in the UK.
