Here's the view of some of our WellChild volunteers:
WellChild is lucky to have dedicated and hardworking volunteers who help us both with our fundraising events and with the day to day running of the charity.
Veronica from Cheltenham is a regular WellChild volunteer. She comes into the WellChild HQ in Royal Crescent, Cheltenham for some hours each week and helps with the administration and organisation which makes the charity tick. She said:
“I was between jobs and looking at volunteering for a charity when I found WellChild.
"I was interested in working for a children’s charity because I have always worked with children in the past as a nanny and a maternity nurse and I wanted to do something where I felt I was helping children who needed support.
“I have been looking at a career change and volunteering has really helped me gain new experience.
"At WellChild everybody is lovely and they have been so helpful! It’s my first experience of working in an office and it is turning out to be a very pleasant one.”
Sam from Gloucester has volunteered regularly for WellChild helping out at events including Ozleworth Open Garden and the Newlands Music festival. She has also volunteered for some hours each week at our HQ in Cheltenham. She said:
“I had some time on my hands so I thought how could I become involved in the community more? And this really does that.
"You get real satisfaction knowing the money raised goes to a good cause and the support we get from the public at events is tremendous. Everybody at WellChild has been so welcoming and fantastic! I really feel part of the team.”
