Clare started working as a community nurse 4 years ago.
Her interests include reading, running, walking, camping and hopefully canoeing in the near future. Clare spends a llot of time doing the above with friends and their families.
Clare's week is varied and consists of home visits, training in education and social services settings, multi professional reviews and discharge planning meetings. She also factors in time during the week for paperwork and administration.
An example of a typical day could include home visits to take bloods, an assessment of care needs or carrying out a sleep study and reviewing ventilation. Clare also carries out home visits with adult services to plan transition with the families as well as attending multi professional reviews.
“I would say the best thing about being a WellChild nurse is having a long term relationship with some of the families and the children. Quite a positive part of the job is being able to see them hopefully having a better quality of life as a result of what I do. ”
