Parent Ambassadors across the UK continue their amazing support of WellChild

Posted on the 18th December 2017

Parent Ambassadors from across the UK have continued to offer their amazing support to WellChild to help us raise awareness and funding for our vital work.

Brass Factor

On the 28th October Parent Ambassador Jill Evans spoke about the support she has received from WellChild at a celebration of one of Britain’s most traditional and best loved forms of entertainment – the brass band!  Six brass bands competed in the talent show style competition in front of a panel of judges and once all the bands had played, the audience and judges voted for the band with the Brass Factor! Each year, Brass Factor helps to raise funds for various charities across the UK and they have selected WellChild as their charity for their event at The Picturedrome, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

East End Foods Gala Dinner

WellChild Parent Ambassador Leanne also spoke at the East End Foods Gala dinner. East End Foods is a leading supplier in the UK’s Indian food market.  Every year they host a Charity Gala, and this year chose WellChild as a beneficiary for the event alongside Cure Leukaemia. Held at the Vox Conference Centre, Birmingham on the 9th September the evening attracted 500 guests and entertainment included a fairground, casino and DJ, offering guest’s lots of fun whilst raising funds for the two charities.

WellChild Parent Ambassador Leanne was invited along to speak at the event; giving guests the opportunity to hear directly from a parent about the positive impact that WellChild have had on her family. Leanne talked about her daughter Sophie’s journey, the support received from Rachel, their WellChild Nurse, and the importance of having families at home, together.

Leanne’s speech was well received on the evening with many people approaching her afterwards to comment on how it helped them “understand the positive impact of Wellchild Nurses.”

Although the final figure raised on the evening is still to be confirmed, last year’s event raised over £71,000!
