Great support from Dobbies Garden Centres

Seriously ill children across the UK will benefit from much needed garden makeovers thanks to support WellChild has received from Dobbies Garden Centres.

Dobbies have raised a remarkable £20,800.71 for WellChild during their Christmas Campaign and it will be used to help fund WellChild’s Helping Hands Programme. The donation will enable WellChild to fund the materials and professional services needed to continue providing safe outdoor spaces for children with complex care needs across the UK. The funding from Dobbies will allow WellChild to deliver 10 Helping Hands projects, funding the material costs which include sensory items, fence panels, paint, tool hire, flooring, nails, wood, turf and skip hire – all of which are an essential part of the scheme.

Over the Christmas period, 34 Dobbies stores from Inverness in the North of Scotland to Ashford in the heart of Kent held events to raise money equally for the work of WellChild and Action for Children who both touch the lives of countless families in the UK today. As well as this, an exclusive range of British designed Christmas decorations were launched with proceeds split between the charities. Each store also hosted a Wish Tree where customers purchased a Christmas bauble to place on the tree – with all proceeds going directly to the charities.

WellChild’s vision is for all seriously ill children, whatever their situation, to have the best possible quality of life, while Action for Children provides help for disadvantaged children and young people.

Both charities are delighted to be selected as fundraising partners.

Colin Dyer, WellChild Chief Executive, said: “You can be sure that all the money raised will be used to help and support seriously ill children and their families across the UK.”
