WellChild Parent Ambassadors Raise Awareness and Vital Funds for WellChild!

Posted on the 14th October 2018

It’s been a busy few months for our Parent Ambassadors who have kindly been giving their time to support WellChild. The team of dedicated parents have spoken at events and pitches and helped secure funding for WellChild’s work with children, young people and families.

  • The October Club have raised a whopping £700,000 for WellChild, and two of our Parent Ambassadors were absolutely critical in helping to secure this partnership, and this amount of money.

WellChild staff were supported by both Jill Evans, who helped deliver a successful pitch to become The October Club’s charity of the year, and Craig Hatch, who attended the fundraising event and gave a very insightful speech into what life is like caring for a child with complex health needs.

The funds raised through this partnership will be used to create training suites across the UK for parents & carers to learn the necessary skills to care for their children at home.

  • Helen our local Gloucestershire Ambassador came to the WellChild office and chatted at length to members of staff from one of our long term corporate partners, Creed. Helping them to understand more about the realities of caring for a child with exceptional health needs.
  • Several Ambassadors helped to plan and run sessions at our WellChild Better at Home with Better Care Conference, focusing on exploring some of the challenges and solutions in enabling access to high quality training for parents and carers.
  • Jill Evans planned our first meet up organised entirely by an ambassador and it was a great success, with over 30 people attending. The meet up was held at Eureka, a fun, interactive and fully inclusive museum where children and their families can learn about themselves and the world around them, through play at their leisure. Find out more about the day here >>

Many of our Parent Ambassadors were also lucky enough to attend the Royal Wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and our 2018 WellChild Awards, and this is just the tip of the iceberg!  If you would like to find out more about being a Parent Ambassador, please contact Catherine at familynetworks@wellchild.org.uk
