Parent Ambassadors

On the 20th March, six WellChild Parent Ambassadors came together for a training day in Birmingham. The day was a huge success, with updates on current projects, media training and discussions on how we can ensure that we are providing the best support for all families of children with exceptional health needs.

“I learnt a lot more about WellChild and it was lovely meeting with the other ambassadors. I felt it really helped me understand what is planned for the future and the expectation of me as a parent ambassador.”

Stacey and her son Dylan (Youth Ambassador) attended a fundraising dinner to support Team Medway, made up of four WellChild supporters running the London Marathon this year. The dinner, held at Rochester and Cobham Park Golf Club on 1st March, raised a whopping £5,388.62 and the team were really grateful to Stacey and Dylan for speaking to their supporters.

“Stacey and Dylan are just amazing they really did help towards raising awareness making the whole thing feel so real!! Our guests were really touched by what Stacey and Dylan had to say, and we can’t thank them enough!!!” Becky, part of Team Medway

Faith kindly represented WellChild at the Institute of Insurers Dinner in Bristol on 29th March where she spoke passionately about her experience of being a mum to a child with exceptional health needs.  They are still counting monies but they are expecting to raise£5,000 from the night.

“Your speaker was amazing and inspirational.” – Guest at IIB Dinner

Jill and Jennie helped organise a parent meet-up in Leeds and 7 parents attended. Many of them had never met before and it was a lovely opportunity to meet local families and make new friends. They are already in the process of organising another meet-up on 23rd April at Eureka in Halifax, if you would like to know more about this meet-up or future meet-up’s in your area then join the WellChild Family Tree closed Facebook group. Youth Ambassadors

Dylan has been extremely busy attending a fundraising dinner (see above), our Awards Launch where he read out a letter from HRH the Duke of Sussex to 120 guests, and completing his first ever triathlon dressed as a WellChild super hero.

Evie visited Gayhurst School in Gerrards Cross to talk to the staff and pupils about her experience of being a WellChild Award winner and what it meant to her. She also wrote a letter about this same experience to be read out at our Awards Nomination Launch event that took place on 21st March.
