Common mental health conditions and where to find support

The stresses of caring for a child with serious health needs can contribute to parent's mental health deteriorating. We have created a list of organisations who can provide information and support to parents who are suffering from common mental health conditions, like depression, anxiety and PTSD.

 Anxiety  

Anxiety UK is a great resource to find out more about Anxiety, the causes and symptoms to watch out for and to look for support.

Depression  

Mind have helpful information about depression, including its symptoms and possible causes, how you can access treatment and support, guidance for family and friends. Visit their website to find out more >>

PTSD  

Some parents have shared their PTSD diagnosis with us after experiencing trauma during medical emergencies with their children. With this in mind, we wanted to signpost parents who are experiencing PTSD symptoms to organisations like Mind, to help you seek the relevant support.

Types of Therapy  

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) has a comprehensive list of names and explanations of the different therapy types, as well as a search function to find a professional near you. Visit the BACP website here >>
