• Implementing robust policies and procedures to ensure extremely high standards of safety.
• Protecting your privacy and will always respect your rights and choices when collecting and using your personal information.
• Listening to feedback from volunteers and encourage anyone who takes part in a Helping Hands project to tell us about any ideas or suggestions that they feel may improve the programme, benefit future volunteers, or provide a better service for beneficiary families.
• Ensuring that any problems or complaints are dealt with fairly and promptly and resolved wherever possible.

Volunteer Commitment *

As a volunteer for WellChild we ask you to agree:
• To follow all the COVID-19 procedures and guidance as laid out in WellChild HH Volunteer Projects – COVID Risk Assessment & Safety Protocol – if you have not been provided with a copy of this document, please request it from your Project Manager.
• To help to carry out the work required to complete the Helping Hands project as agreed, although individual volunteers are under no obligation to undertake specific tasks within the project.
• To follow the guidance and instructions given by the Helping Hands Project Manager.
• To ensure that you have read and understood the relevant Risk Assessments and other health and safety materials provided, and to comply with all safe methods of working, and utilise all appropriate safety and protective equipment provided.
• To treat everyone involved in the project with respect and behave appropriately when working at the property of the beneficiary family.

Safeguarding Children *

WellChild is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and to the principle that ‘welfare of the child is paramount’. As a volunteer for WellChild you should:
• Recognise children’s rights and treat them with dignity and respect.
• Not be alone or make unnecessary physical contact with children who may be present during a project and understand that any interaction should only take place with the consent of the child and a parent or guardian, and in the presence of a parent or guardian.
• Maintain the strictest confidentiality relating to information about beneficiary children and families, and not share anything without their consent.
• Recognise that if you, or the company you work for, choose to have any on-going contact with the family after a project has been completed then this is outside of WellChild’s responsibility.
• Not take photos of members of the beneficiary family without consent or share any photos of family members without permission.
• Familiarise yourself with WellChild’s Safeguarding Children Policy statement, procedure and how to report any concerns. All this information can be accessed here.

Terms & Conditions *

• WellChild is under no obligation to offer any volunteer work and may ask a volunteer to cease working at any time.
• This agreement is not a contract of employment. You are not an agent, representative or employee of WellChild, nor do you have any authority or right to represent yourself as working for WellChild.
• WellChild shall not be liable for any accident, loss, damage, injury, cost or claim whatsoever arising from a Helping Hands project from any volunteer, nor will it be liable for any claims arising out of any act or omission by any volunteer or beneficiary family, unless arising from WellChild’s negligence.
