2024 WellChild Awards Terms and Conditions

WellChild Awards Terms & Conditions of entry

  1. The promoter is: WellChild (Charity registered in England and Wales 289600 and Scotland SC045010) whose registered office is at WellChild, Office 23, Sunningend Business Centre, 22 Lansdown Industrial Estate, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL51 8PL.
  2. Members of the judging panel and their family members or friends shall not be permitted to submit an Awards nomination.
  3. There is no fee for making a WellChild Awards nomination.
  4. Nominations will only be accepted for nominees based in the United Kingdom.
  5. Details of how to nominate can be found at wellchild.org.uk/awards
  6. Closing date for nominations will be midnight on 18th March 2024. Any nominations received after this time will not be submitted for judging.
  7. WellChild will not accept any responsibility for late nominations or entries not received for any reason whatsoever.
  8. The WellChild Nominations and judging process works as follows:
    • Stage 1Nominations must be submitted via the online form at wellchild.org.uk/awards before the above closing date.
    • Stage 2: Shortlisting – Eligible nominations will be compiled for an initial round of shortlisting by panels of WellChild staff and volunteers. Those progressing through to Stage 3: Final Judging will be contacted to provide further information & consents.
    • Stage 3: Final Judging – Winners will be selected from the shortlisted nominees by an external judging panels made up of previous WellChild Award winners, child health professionals, sponsors, media partners, celebrity ambassadors and representatives of the WellChild leadership team and WellChild Parent & Youth Ambassadors.
  9. The judging panel chooses who they feel are the most deserving winners, regardless of the number of nominations received.
  10. Your nomination may be considered in a different category if the judges decide it is appropriate.
  11. If a nominee progresses through to Stage 3: Final Judging; they, or their parent/guardian will be contacted to complete a questionnaire proving further information and consents to being nominated. If this questionnaire or consent is not completed, they will be withdrawn and will not progress to final stages. If you, or the person nominated have not heard from WellChild by the 10th June then the nomination has not been successful. 
  12. You will be notified about the status of your nomination after end of May 2024.
  13. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  14. In accordance with current data protection legislation, in order for WellChild to process the personal and sometimes sensitive information contained within a WellChild Award nomination, the following consent is required by the closing date of 18th March 2024.
    • For nominees under the age of 13: Consent will be required from their parent or legal guardian.
    • For nominees over the age of 13, but unable to provide consent: Consent will be required from their parent or legal guardian.
    • For nominees over the age of 13 and able to provide consent: Consent will be required from the nominee.
  15. In this instance, the ‘processing’ of information includes:
    • WellChild holding information about the nominee and nominator on their digital and manual systems.
    • WellChild sharing nomination information with WellChild staff and members of the internal and external judging panel for the purposes of judging.
    • Using the information to contact the nominator/nominee or their parents/legal guardians.
  16. All information provided will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation. Further information can be found at wellchild.org.uk/privacy-cookies
  17. WellChild understand that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All WellChild employees and representatives have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of any person who comes in to contact with the charity.   18. All winners will be expected to participate in the following WellChild Awards activity in the build-up to, during and after the event. This includes:
    • Attending the Awards ceremony in 2024.
    • Filming for WellChild Awards winners films. This could involve a team from WellChild visiting you and your family to film interviews and/or gathering footage from you for the winners film. The footage will be used to create a short film to be shown on the night of the Awards ceremony, online and via social media.
    • Regional/national television, newspaper and radio interviews, photography and filming if requested.

    • Please note, the winner of the ITV This Morning Special Recognition Award will be required to take part in media appearances across TV, Radio and Press. 
  19. WellChild reserves the right to cancel or amend these terms and conditions. Any changes will be published on the WellChild Awards website page which can be found at wellchild.org.uk/awards
  20. Submitting a nomination is deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  21. If a nominee, nominator, or parent of the nominee are contacted by WellChild about their nomination and no response is received within the prescribed timescales, the nomination will be withdrawn by WellChild.
  22. If we do not receive a completed consent from the nominee or their parent/guardian where applicable by the Awards Nominations closing date of 18th March 2024, the nomination will be withdrawn and will not progress to judging.
  23. If a category receives no suitable nominations as deemed by WellChild or the external judging panel, this category may be withdrawn from the proceedings.
