Billy and Jade will be walking with their dogs Wilson the Cockapoo and Storm the Staffy around the Redruth area throughout June. They decided to take on the 100 mile challenge having completed a shorter one last year.

Billy has been a WellChild Nurse since 2019 working to get complex needs children home from hospital. She works with many other hospital teams from all over the area and other services such as social care and therapy services and the hospice.

Billy said: “The children and their families help define my role, they are amazing, even though they face the toughest of times. I sadly cannot take away the challenges they face but perhaps can lighten the load a little.”

Fundraising is going well and Billy and Jade have had help from a collection at the local Tesco store in Redruth.

WellChild Chief Executive Matt James was delighted that Billy and Jade have decided to support WellChild.

“It’s great that Billy and Jade are fundraising for WellChild in this way. For many of the children, young people and families we support, just getting through the day is a huge challenge. On their behalf I thank them both and their dogs for all their hard work! It is a tough time for seriously ill children and their families. They have come out of a desperate situation during the COVID pandemic and into the crippling cost-of-living crisis. We are working hard to find new ways to get families the support they need. Most recently, we have been sourcing grants to help families most acutely in need of financial help with such necessities as food and energy bills.”
