Ed’s golf day a huge success

The Ed Chamberlin Golf Classic was a huge success this year, not only in sporting terms but also in the fantastic amount of money it raised for the children and families WellChild supports.

This year the event raised an incredible £50,000 for WellChild’s work and overall, the event has raised nearly £500,000 since Ed started it in 2014. This was the ninth annual event and we look forward to everyone coming back to celebrate with us for the special 10th anniversary in 2024.

A huge thanks go to our ambassador Ed Chamberlin and to all the teams who took part in the event, both those who support us year on year and the new teams who came along for the first time. WellChild’s thanks also go to our sponsors Sky Bet, partners West Way, and event supporters Brook Taverner, Whispering Angel, REFLO and Racing Post. The day simply couldn’t go ahead without them. We are also very grateful for the support of all our celebrity guests who turned up to make the event extra special.

During the event Ed Chamberlin interviewed Shevonne about family life with her little boy Henry who has been supported by a WellChild Nurse.

Shevonne commented “WellChild support families all around the country, like ours, and make life as ‘normal’ as possible for a life that is really, really difficult. WellChild make a phenomenal difference to our lives.”

WellChild Chief Executive Matt James said: “We simply cannot thank you all enough for helping to provide desperately needed support for families like Henry and Shevonne across the UK. Whether that be through receiving support from a WellChild Nurse who enables them to have the proper care and support at home instead of hospital, or by giving a parent the confidence to care for their child through WellChild’s Better at Home training suites, or through a Helping Hands garden transformation providing a much needed safe and accessible space. These are just some of the ways the money you have helped raise can support more WellChild families.”
