Lynnsey cooks up a new record dressed as a chef
Runner Lynnsey Fitzgerald from High Wycombe has cooked up a Guinness World Record while taking part in the Great North Run for children’s charity WellChild.
Lynnsey has been confirmed as record holder for the fastest half marathon dressed as a chef (female) with her time of two hours 36 minutes 48 seconds at the event in Newcastle on September 11th 2022.
Lynnsey ran the race to raise money for WellChild’s work with seriously ill children and their families across the UK.
Lynnsey said: “I wanted to raise awareness about the great work that WellChild do and thought getting a World Record might help that! I needed an outfit that was going to be challenging, to reflect the lives of the familes WellChild help, so I thought having to do a run carrying a 3 kg pot was going to be difficult!”
Now she is calling on runners to take part in the event for WellChild this year. She said: “There are hundreds of thousands of children in the UK living with long-standing illness or disability. By running the Great North Run this year in aid of WellChild, you could help the charity to improve the lives of as many sick children as possible,”
