A huge thank you to our incredible team of 140 runners, plus out volunteers and corporate supporters!

Over 140 #TeamWellChild runners took to the streets of London yesterday to complete an incredible 26.2 miles for children with complex medical needs. Not only have the team been busy with months of training but they have also been hard at work fundraising, with a total target of £350,000.

Thank you too to all the supporters who turned out to help make the event such a success, loudly cheering on our runners from the checkpoints around the course and making sure they all felt part of the WellChild Team!

A special thank you goes to our corporate supporter, LAVA Advisory Partners for generously sponsoring our Post Race Party – providing somewhere for our runners to meet their friends and family and get a well deserved leg massage and refreshments! Thanks also go St. James’s Place for supplying the transport to London for our staff and volunteers and to Creed Foodservice for donating snacks for our runners and supporters. LAVA Advisory Partners, St. James’s Place and Bloomberg also had their own teams of runners supporting WellChild out on the course – a huge thank you for all their hard work.

WellChild Chief Executive Matt James expressed his gratitude to all the runners who took on the London Marathon this year along with all those who supported on the event:

“The support we receive makes a real and lasting difference to the lives of children and families with complex medical needs. Many are dealing with complex care needs every single day, and that can place an enormous strain on the whole family. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has taken on this challenge for WellChild, particularly our runners who have shown such commitment over the months of training and fundraising. Special thanks also go to our generous corporate partners who helped make the day a huge success. At a time when families are facing increasing pressures, this support enables us to be there for them when it matters most.”

Matt James, WellChild Chief Executive

Every mile run and every pound raised helps WellChild reach even more children with complex medical needs and the families who care for them every day. The incredible commitment shown by Team WellChild and their supporters means more practical and emotional support, for families navigating the challenges of caring for a seriously ill child. We are extremely grateful to you all.
