Disabled Children’s Partnership campaigner and WellChild Parent Ambassador, Vickey and her son Ollie handed a letter to Downing Street today asking the government to plug the £434million annual social care funding gap for disabled children and their families.

In June this year the Disabled Children’s Partnership (DCP), of which WellChild is a founding member, launched the #GiveItBack campaign in partnership with The Sun.

Since then, more than 21,000 people have signed the open letter to the Chancellor by WellChild Parent Ambassador, Vickey.

Vickey and her son Ollie arrived at Downing Street today with WellChild Director of Programmes, Tara Parker and fellow DCP partners Richard Kramer from Sense and Amanda Batten from Contact to personally hand the letter in.

Vickey receives no support caring for her son, Ollie, even though he has an ultra-rare condition that means he needs constant supervision and can never be left alone.

“Ollie needs constant supervision and can never be left alone. He can stop breathing at any time, day or night. We put him to bed and pray that tonight won’t be the night that he stops breathing and doesn’t start again."
