Helping Hands at work

14 year old Kieran wasn’t able to access the family garden for eight years because it was uneven, unsafe and difficult to manage. Keiran has a rare genetic disorder, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and is non verbal. He is in pain daily, fed by a tube and experiences regular seizures. He is a fulltime wheelchair user and is dependant on full adult support to meet all of his care and social needs.

Garden Makeover

Volunteers from Salesforce joined our team and worked incredibly hard to completely transform Kieran’s garden in just two days. They cleared all of the existing vegetation and removed old slabs and fencing. They then installed new fencing to provide privacy and security for the family, constructed two large raised beds with a bench seat and a large area of decking. They also included an area of artificial grass, balustrade fencing and a wildlife garden complete with birdfeeders. On top of all of this everything had to be carried through the house!

Thanks to their hard work Kieran can now access the garden for the first time in years. He now has a beautiful space where he can spend time with his family, easily access fresh air whenever he is feeling well enough, and enjoy watching the birds and butterflies.
