WellChild Families Enjoy a Wild Day Out at Chester Zoo
Over 120 parent carers, children and young people supported by WellChild enjoy an accessible and action-packed day at Chester Zoo.
On Saturday 21st June 2025, over 120 parent carers, children and young people supported by WellChild enjoyed a fun-filled and memorable day at Chester Zoo, thanks to the generous support of our partners and volunteers.
The day offered families a chance to connect with each other, and explore the animal world in a safe, accessible and supportive environment. The families were treated to a talk from one of the zoo’s expert keepers, who shared fascinating insights into the lives of the animals and answered questions from the families.
To keep everyone fuelled for their adventure, snacks were kindly donated by Creed Foodservice. Their generous contribution was greatly appreciated by all.
We were thrilled to be joined by a fantastic team of volunteers from Speedy Hire, whose energy and support helped the day run seamlessly. From warmly welcoming families on arrival to assisting with activities throughout the event, their support made a real difference. They also played a key role in manning our puzzle trail checkpoints, where families collected stickers as they explored the zoo. A huge thank you to the volunteers from Speedy Hire for generously giving up their time to support this event.

Events like this are a vital part of WellChild’s work, offering families caring for a child with complex medical needs, the chance to enjoy quality time together and to meet other families in similar situations to themselves.
