Mountain Rescue 2019

This summer WellChild Families were given the amazing opportunity to visit the Lea Green Learning Development Centre in Matlock, Derbyshire for a full day of zip wiring, abseiling, archery and much, much more.

Hosted by Mountain Rescue England and Wales, parents, children and young people all got the chance to face fears by climbing a 60 ft obstacle of ropes and ladders, whilst others were able to get an adrenaline kick on the zip wire.

It was a fabulous day and everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed the event, getting the chance to take part in new experiences whilst making lots of new friends and memories together.

"I enjoyed the day as it was an opportunity for me and my family to enjoy and take part in different and new activities regardless of disability. It was great to spend the day with other families like ours.”

“The Mountain Rescue Day is such a great event and one we look forward to every year.  The activities are always fun and challenging, and everyone gets to take part no matter what their disability is.  It was great to see how the families that came along as strangers left at the end of the day as great friends too. We cannot thank everyone at Mountain Rescue England and Wales enough for all their hard work providing such an enjoyable and inclusive day for everyone.” – Jennie, WellChild Parent Ambassador
