WellChild Patron, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex will attend the 2025 WellChild Awards, in association with GSK. Taking place in London on September 8th, this sparkling ceremony celebrates the inspirational achievements of seriously ill children and those who care for them.

Now in its milestone 20th year, these Awards are run by WellChild, the national charity for seriously ill children. They shine a light on the remarkable resilience and heroic qualities of children and young people living with complex medical needs and honour the dedication of those around them who go the extra mile to help these children thrive.

Prince Harry has been Patron of WellChild for 17 years, providing invaluable help to support the charity’s mission of improving quality of life for seriously ill children. Over the years he has played an important role in assisting WellChild to raise both awareness and vital funds, including personal commitments himself, to help families get the care they need.

He has attended the WellChild Awards on fourteen previous occasions and will spend time with each winner and their families at a pre-ceremony reception, listening to their stories and helping create lifelong memories.

Prince Harry will then take part in the ceremony, presenting the Award for Inspirational Child (aged 4-6) and delivering a speech.

WellChild Patron, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex said:

“I am always privileged to attend the WellChild Awards and meet the incredible children, families and professionals who inspire us all with their strength and spirit. For 20 years these Awards have highlighted the courage of young people living with complex health needs and shone a light on the devoted caregivers – family and professionals - who support them every step of the way. Their stories remind us of the power of compassion, connection and community.”

Last year’s WellChild Awards brought together children, young people, healthcare and other professionals who work with seriously ill children at a star-studded Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.  Celebrity guests and WellChild supporters included Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster, Rylan Clark, KSI and Oti Mabuse with performances by Beverley Knight MBE and Pixie Lott and the event was hosted by Gaby Roslin.

WellChild Chief Executive, Matt James commented:

We are excited to celebrate the 20th WellChild Awards, in association with GSK. Across the UK, more and more families are caring for children with serious and complex medical needs. Behind each winner's story is a network of extraordinary people who go above and beyond every single day. The WellChild Awards give us the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the resilience of these remarkable children and young people and the commitment of those around them - from parents and siblings, to the professionals who all play their part in ensuring that these children can thrive at home and in their communities."
