Chester Zoo Family Day Out
You are invited to join us for an unforgettable family adventure at Chester Zoo, where wonder, excitement, and a whole world of animals are waiting to be discovered!
Spend the day exploring the zoo at your own pace and visit all the incredible animal attractions, wander through lush habitats, and enjoy the fantastic play areas the zoo has to offer. You will love taking part in our super fun sticker trail, and everyone will have the chance to adopt and take home their very own cuddly animal as a special keepsake of the day. Don’t forget to stop by our “Show Your Wild Side” photo booth! Whether you can roar like a tiger or pose like a flamingo, snap some brilliant, silly, unforgettable photos to take home.
Chester Zoo is fully accessible, featuring wheelchair-friendly pathways, a wheelchair-accessible play area, and a Changing Places toilet for comfort and ease throughout your visit. Further accessibility details can be found here.
This event is free and exclusive to families who have received support from our Family Welfare Advisor Service and members of the WellChild Family Tree.
Families will receive:
· Day pass to Chester Zoo valid for Saturday 6th June 2026 only
· Snack pack containing crisps, fruit, snack and drinks
· Zoo information pack with map and sticker activity pack
Ticket applications will close on midnight Monday 18th May 2026! Please note tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis with priority given to those who have not previously attended the event. Ticket registration may close early in the event that all tickets have been allocated.
WellChild has a limited number of tickets available for eligible children and their immediate families only (parents, carers and siblings). Please do not request tickets for other family members or friends.
Please note that to enable us to claim carer tickets for each family we will need to collect evidence of your carer status, this can be a copy of your access card, your child’s DLA/PIP letter or carers allowance statement.
When completing the short registration form, you must let us know the amount of each ticket type you require. Include the number of snack packs needed for your group, any dietary requirements and any other requirements you might have. Please let us know in advance if you would like to hire mobility equipment for the day and this can be arranged with Chester Zoo.
Tickets are not guaranteed – if your request is successful a member of the WellChild Family Team will send you confirmation. Terms and conditions apply (see below)
10am – 10:30am Families to collect their Chester Zoo entrance tickets from WellChild staff at the main gates and make their way to The Square for tea, coffee and refreshments and a chance to meet other WellChild families, staff and volunteers.
10.30am – 11am Have fun snapping some memorable family moments in our Wild Side photo booth and collect your sticker activity booklet and snack packs.
11am – 15:30pm Free time to explore the Zoo at your leisure and complete our fun Sticker Trail! WellChild staff will be available at The Square and different locations throughout the park should you need help or assistance.
12:30 – 15:30pm Animal Adoption Centre is Open! Bring your completed sticker sheets back to The Square and adopt your very own stuffed animal toy to take home.
16:00pm – Finish. WellChild staff leave Chester Zoo. Families are welcome to stay and enjoy Chester Zoo until closing time at 17:00pm but please note there will be no members of WellChild staff on site after this point.
Chester Zoo is a fully accessible visitor attraction offering:
- Accessible pathways.
- Accessible toilet facilities are available across the zoo site, including a Changing Places toilet inside the Jubilee toilets with a hoist, adjustable bed and sink.
- A wheelchair lift is available at the Realm of the Red Ape house for those who will struggle to use the ramp.
- Lazy River Boat Trip has wheelchair access (electric scooters are not allowed, however if possible Chester Zoo can offer the use of a wheelchair for your boat trip at the Jetty. Please head down to the exit to discuss your needs with a member of Chester Zoo staff).
- Elephant Bridge and Wooden Bats Bridge have a steep gradient so please ask if you need assistance in these areas. The Wooden Bats Bridge is not fully accessible for wheelchair users, who may prefer going over Elephant Bridge instead.
- Many animal habitats have multiple viewing points, please ask Chester Zoo staff about the best places to view the animals.
- There are indoor spaces throughout the zoo which can at times be busy and noisy. Chester Zoo have created a series of short videos to give you more information about what you can expect in the indoor spaces. The videos can be found here.

Chester Zoo Family Day Out 2026
- By requesting tickets for WellChild’s Family Day Out at Chester Zoo, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
- The organisers are WellChild, Sunningend Business Centre, 22 Lansdown Industrial Estate, Cheltenham GL51 8PR.
- This offer is open to any families who have used WellChild’s Family Welfare Advisor Service and members of WellChild Family Tree.
- Tickets are limited and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to families who have not previously attended Chester Zoo Family Day Out. Each family can request tickets for the child’s parents/carers, the child with the condition and their siblings only. Ticket registration may close early in the event that all tickets have been allocated.
- If ticket requests are oversubscribed, names will selected using a random number generator.
- Tickets are not guaranteed until you receive confirmation from WellChild.
- Family Day Out at Chester Zoo is on Saturday 6th June 2026, tickets issued will be for this day only.
- Tickets will include a snack pack with a drink, crisps, fruit and a cookie for each attendee which will be given out on the day. Please notify WellChild of any dietary requirements and allergies when requesting tickets.
- Tickets cannot be redeemed for their monetary value.
- All participants attend the event entirely at their own risk and the organisers shall not be liable for any injury or loss that participants suffer as a result of taking part in the event, except where an injury or loss results from the negligence or omissions of the organisers.
- Families are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from Chester Zoo.
- Itineraries, schedule and other arrangement changes may occur, which are beyond the control of WellChild.
- The event organisers (WellChild) may, at their sole discretion, withdraw places on the event if it is believed to be in their own best interest to do so. The event organisers reserve the right to amend/cancel the event should it be deemed necessary for any reasons outside of their control, for example, inclement weather or windy conditions that are too risky to allow the activity to take place.
- All personal information supplied when requesting your tickets will be held securely in accordance with our privacy policy, which you can read here. Please note that your details will be shared with the event organisers so your tickets can be booked and any accessibility needs can be met.
- By submitting a request for tickets, you agree to the terms and conditions above and the following disclaimer ‘I declare I will abide by the age limits and accessibility requirements and restrictions set for the event and will abide by all rules and instructions. I declare that I and my child(ren) attend Family Day Out at Chester Zoo at our own risk. I accept that the organisers, sponsors, partners, volunteers will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses, which may arise in consequence of my participation of the event, unless caused by their negligence or omission.
- Tickets will be given out to you on the day of the event: please collect your tickets from WellChild staff who will be waiting at the collection point prior to entering the park. Please contact the group organiser if you are unable to make the event or if you will be arriving after the ticket collection time. If your personal details (address, contact number etc.) change after you have submitted your registration form to take part, you must notify us immediately.
