The TCS New York City Marathon 2024 is mostly a flat course with several small and gradual hills. The route boasts incredible views of the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan Skyline and the Empire State Building. Towards the end of the marathon you will find 6 miles of flat surface leading you to the breath-taking finish line in Central Park.

This unmissable event takes place on 3rd November 2024 and is a highly sought after balloted event, but you can get a guaranteed place and run for #TeamWellChild . All you have to do is commit to raising £2,500 with full support for your training and fundraising along the way, all the way to race day!

Pledge to raise £2,500 in sponsorship (not including Gift Aid). If you have secured your own place there is no set target and we just ask you to raise as much as you can.

Terms and Conditions WellChild 2024 TCS New York Marathon 

1. New York Marathon participants must pay a non-refundable registration fee of $315.00 US dollars direct to the event organisers NYRR before the deadline of 10th September 2024. After this date if you have not paid the registration fee then you will not be entered into the race and WellChild will not be liable for any costs occurred. This is in addition to the fundraising target (excluding GiftAid) suggested by WellChild. 

2. Once your application has been accepted, you pledge to attempt to raise at least £2,500 in sponsorship (excluding gift aid) for WellChild (guaranteed place holders only). We ask that runners: –

  • Attempt to raise 80% of the above fundraising target by the registration close date of September 10th 2024.  
  • Aim to pay any remaining sponsorship will payableraised by December 3rd 2024, a month after the event date. 

3. All funds raised in the name of WellChild must be paid to WellChild. You have a legal responsibility to ensure that all sponsorship monies/donations received by you for the Event are paid to WellChild promptly after the Event takes place (preferably within four weeks of the Event taking place). 

4. To take part in this event you must be a non-US resident aged 18 or over on the date of the event and you travel at your own risk. Your passport must have at least a six month validity from the date that you return to the UK and it is your responsibility to apply and pay for a visa to enter the USA. If you are refused entry or exit, you are responsible for any costs incurred. 

5. Should you have to withdraw or defer your entry, for whatever reason, please email [email protected] as soon as possible. 

 6. All participants enter the Event entirely at their own risk and the organisers or WellChild shall not be liable for any injury or loss that participants suffer as a result of taking part in the event, except where an injury or loss results from the negligence or omissions of the organisers. 

7. By entering the Event you confirm that you are aware of the risks involved and the degree of fitness required to take part and agree that you are physically capable of competing in the Event. You are advised to consult your doctor if in any doubt prior to undertaking any exercise programme or running event. You undertake and agree to inform WellChild and/or the Organiser of any change in your medical condition from the date of registration up to and until the start of the Event. Participants with a pre-existing medical condition, may be required to provide a doctor’s certificate stating they have a suitable level of fitness to participate in the Event. 

8. All training plans, hints and tips are provided in good faith. 

9. We strongly advise that you obtain travel insurance as soon as your application is accepted that includes personal liability, medical, belongings/equipment and personal accident insurance. 

10. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner when representing WellChild in any capacity (including fundraising activities, participation in the event, and any related activities). 

11. Itineraries, schedule and other arrangement changes may occur, which are beyond the control of WellChild or the Organisers. 

12. During the course of the Event you must fully comply with the instructions of the Organisers, safety teams, guides, emergency services and/or marshals. 

13. WellChild may, at its sole discretion, withdraw places in the Event if it is believed to be in its own best interest to do so (if using a WellChild place). WellChild reserves the right to cancel the Event should it be deemed necessary for any reasons outside of its control. In this instance, all donations paid by you will be refunded. 

14. You confirm that you are happy for your name and any footage or photographs taken during your participation in the Event to be used by the organisers and/or WellChild to publicise and organise events, and by WellChild generally in promoting the work of the charity. This may include brochures, posters, leaflets, display boards, website and any other such appropriate materials. 

15. If your personal details (address, contact number etc.) change after you have submitted your application you must notify us immediately. All personal information will be held in accordance with the UK GDPR 2022.
