Sending out your press release couldn’t be easier.

Just follow these simple steps:

  • Fill in the blanks on your press release template remembering to include any special reason why you chose to take part for WellChild.
  • Go to the website of your local newspaper
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the front page, find the link marked ‘contact us’ and click on it (often this is right at the bottom)
  • On the contacts page find the email address marked ‘News Desk’, ‘Content Editor’ or similar and click on it.
  • Attach your press release to the email along with a photo if you have one
  • Write a one line email explaining that you are a local person taking part in your challenge to support WellChild’s work for seriously ill children and that you have attached your story.
  • Send the email – that’s it!

As you set up your fundraising page, remember that small steps can lead to a big impact. We've outlined six easy steps to help you get your fundraising page up and running.

Add photo and tell your story Fundraisers with pictures or videos on their page raise 13% more per photo! Telling your story on your page helps your supporters understand why you’re fundraising. You could raise 65% more if you do!

Set your fundraising target It gives your supporters a goal to get behind, setting a fundraising target can lead to a 17% increase in the amount you raise. Aim high!

Share away Every milestone matters! From your first donation to the end of your fundraising and everything in between. Use your page update as your diary, people love to see what you’ve been up to.

Connect fitness apps You could raise 40% more and have supporters keep track of your progress by connecting your page with your Strava or Fitbit account.

Post updates Let supporters know how you are doing by updating your page often, they will enjoy following your progress and you can even do it through our smartphone app.

Personalised thank you 20% of donations come in after your event has ended, so make sure you follow up to thank your supporters!
