Give in your will

A lasting legacy that will help seriously ill children and their families.

Once you have thought about your friends and family, leaving a gift in your will can create a lasting legacy that can help the children who desperately need it.

WellChild receive no funding from the government and so rely 100% on donations to help us with the work that we do. Legacies are vital in ensuring that we can continue providing the services which so many seriously ill children throughout the country depend on.

Here’s how your gift could help us:

  • Provide funding for dedicated WellChild’s children’s nurses to work with families of seriously ill children and help bring them leave hospital to be cared for in their own homes.
  • Help us provide home improvements to sick children’s homes so that they can live in a happy and safe environment that caters for their changing needs.
  • Invest in research that directly improves care is given to children and young people, both in hospital and the community.
  • Enhances the understanding of serious illnesses and conditions effecting children and young people and to how best to treat them.
  • Facilitate training for families in caring for their sick children themselves at home, rather than have to receive the care in hospital where they could be hundreds of miles away from their home and other members of their family.
  • Provide medical specialists to look into providing better methods of care for children
  • Connect families through our WellChild Family Tree to become a source of support for each other, wherever they are or whatever stage of their journey they are in.

Why make a Will?

Making a will is something that most of us put off doing; it seems complicated or we are too young, or we can do it tomorrow. But if we want to be sure on how our money and possessions are distributed when we die, then it is vital to make one – for our own sake and for our family and friends.

Writing your Will?

You can write your will yourself, but as it is a legally binding document we would recommend using a professional service to assist you through what can be a complex process. In addition to drafting your will, a qualified lawyer will also be able to advise you on ways to reduce your inheritance tax liability – for instance, by making gifts in your lifetime and donations to tax-exempt charities and trusts.

Choosing to leave a gift in your Will for a charity is something that can very personal to you and so you may wish to keep this private, although it is always lovely to hear from our supporters. If you would like to talk about how your gift will help a seriously ill child then please do get in touch.
