In Your Area – Terms of Use

In Your Area (IYA) is an interactive directory of services and support. IYA is primarily for parents and carers of children with complex needs, but other groups may use the resource, including young people with complex needs, and health, social care, and education professionals.

The platform gives users the opportunity to add services not currently listed and share their experiences of listed services with other users by rating and commenting on a listing page.

Please read the following guidelines before using the platform:

  • The views expressed by users of IYA do not necessarily reflect those of the WellChild charity.
  • The information shared on In Your Area is for general use only.
  • IYA is moderated by the WellChild Family Team. All listings, reviews, and comments are publicly viewable.
  • Links to sites maintained by other organisations and groups can be shared or provided by users. These links do not necessarily mean that WellChild endorses or supports those organisations or groups.
  • WellChild cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss caused by any inaccuracy on these sites or those linked to these sites.
  • Discussion about users’ experience with services in the comments is encouraged by WellChild. Users of IYA are expected to engage with one another in a respectful manner.
  • User generated content and comments made are monitored regularly, but WellChild cannot take responsibility for the content of posts or comments.
  • IYA is a publicly available resource and user posts will be visible to the public. Whilst we invite users to share their families’ experience with local services, users should not share personal or sensitive information, for example children’s names, ages, conditions, addresses, or contact details. Any reviews or comments WellChild deems to contain personal or sensitive information will be removed.
  • We encourage users to search and browse for services, to contribute information about services not yet listed, and to share their experiences with any listed service you or your child have used.
  • WellChild encourages users to report listings or comments they consider to be abusive by emailing the team at [email protected]
  • WellChild reserves the right to remove inappropriate content. The types of posts that will not be tolerated include, but are not limited to:
    • Posts that are indecent, obscene, hateful, threatening, or defamatory
    • Unlawful activity or activity that endangers or threatens to endanger the safety of any person
    • Trolling or posts that cause harassment or disruption of the discussion about services.
    • Commercial advertising or spam
  • The group is moderated Mon-Fri 9-5 excluding Bank Holidays by the Family Team
  • WellChild understand that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All WellChild employees and representatives have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of any person who comes in to contact with the charity.
