Accessible shows also includes audio described, captioned and BSL supported performances and tours, live streamed shows, relaxed performances and touch tours for visually impaired visitors to get familiarised with the space, costumes and props before a show. Please note the Lowry does not have a car park - please use Quayside MediaCity for parking. It has 80 designated accessible parking bays available on every level of the car park.

An arts and theatre hub, where theatre shows take place and where there are plenty of dance, drama and arts and crafts activities to get stuck into. The theatre has 230 seats with shows for different ages each season. Weekly participatory classes in all art forms for children aged 0-13 years. Accessible seating and wheelchair spaces available which can be booked in advance. Relaxed showings and families are able to come in and out as they need. Large changing mats available in family bathrooms and lift access to all floors. Accessible toilet in Z-Cafe and access pack for food and drinks assistance if needed.

The Cerebra Innovation Centre (CIC) designs and builds innovative, bespoke products to help disabled children discover and engage with the world around them. They take requests from parents, carers and professionals, and design logical, innovative, and, above all, fun solutions catered to the specific needs of children with brain conditions. Their designs aim to reduce some of the social stigma attached to disabilities by making functional and beautiful products for amazing young people. From iPad cases to rocking horses, Oxy-Gems and surfboards, the award-winning team is brimming with ideas and solutions to help. Their products are desirable and exciting, not just functional. Their products promote a child’s social inclusion, peer expectance, and enable them to participate in everyday activities that are so often closed to them. CIC help Children from birth to 16 who have a brain condition and all their services are free of charge.

Ladybug Lodge
Ladybug Lodge strive to relieve the needs of children and young adults (up to the age of 25) with special education needs or disabilities who reside in Coventry and the surrounding area and their families and carers, by providing accessible activities, events and recreational opportunities and by providing support, information and advice. They offer: - Weekly Home Educated and Preschool Sessions (Term Time only). - Afterschool Swimming in fully accessible hydrotherapy pool (Monday evenings). - School Holiday provision with Stay and Play, Swimming and Dance sessions! - Fortnightly Weekend Sessions! A changing places and mobile hoist is available at Tiverton School. Ladybug Lodge supports children and young people with SEND from ages 0 - 25. Their siblings (of any age!) are welcome to attend sessions with them. Parents and/or Carers must stay with their child during the session. Sessions are booked through the website, families do not need to be referred to access the sessions.

National Museum of Cardiff
Hosting one of Europe’s finest collections of art, geology and natural history, the National Museum of Cardiff explores the evolution of Wales through several fascinating exhibits. Wheelchair users can enjoy entry to all galleries, as well as free disabled parking with level access to the entrance. Hireable wheelchairs and mobile seating sticks are also provided, subject to availability. In addition to our accessible toilets there is a Changing Places facility on level one. The Changing place is equipped with a hoist and adjustable bed. Individuals with visual impairments can request guided assistance and free audio description tours are on offer for groups. There is also a touch trail within the Natural History galleries and guide dogs are permitted. For those with hearing impairments, induction loops are supplied throughout and there is a good standard of written material available to support the collections. The Museum can sometimes be crowded and noisy. We have a limited number of ear defenders for adults and children. If you would like to borrow these during your visit, please enquire at the Welcome Desk. The quietest time to visit the Museum is usually from 3pm.

Play Zone is a fascinating world where younger visitors can create make believe meals and entertain in the mini- kitchen and café and learn to recycle everything (it’s never too early to save the planet!) There are extra pop-up play areas designed especially for our youngest visitors and discovery backpacks to help carers and younger visitors make the most of their visit. The museum provides a great accessible day out for wheelchair users, with level access and lifts and ramps to all floors, plus hireable wheelchairs and spaces for wheelchairs within the planetarium and theatre. There are also disabled toilets on every floor, including a Changing Places facility at reception level. Times Square Car Park is withing a 5-minute walk from the centre. This car park is fully accessible. For visitors with sensory conditions, you can hire a bag containing ear defenders and sunglasses and download a sensory map. They also host a Sensory Sunday once a month, with dedicated quiet hours for experiencing the exhibitions and performances in a more relaxed environment with lighting and sound levels altered. Those with visual or hearing difficulties have not been forgotten either, as the attraction offers induction loops, large print leaflets and also welcomes guide dogs. If you’re a visitor with a disability and you need a carer, you can bring them free of charge when you buy a ticket. The Lost Gardens of Heligan
Heligan is one of the most mysterious estates in England. Lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WW1, this Sleeping Beauty was re-awakened in 1990 to become Europe’s largest garden restoration project. Today Heligan’s 200 acres are a paradise for the explorer, wildlife, plant lover and garden romantic. The Productive and Pleasure Gardens, Home Farm and the Steward’s House are all set on a gentle downhill slope, making these areas manoeuvrable for wheelchair users. The wider estate should be approached with caution as you may encounter steeper gradients and steps throughout. Disabled visitors presenting appropriate documentation are eligible for one complimentary essential companion ticket. A list of valid documentation is available on their website. Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow, free of charge, from our Visitor Reception on a first-come, first-served basis. We also have two mobility scooters available in two time slots: from 10am to 1pm and from 1.30pm to 4.30pm – this includes a short induction although we do insist that visitors have previous experience of using a mobility scooter. Pre-booking is advisable by phoning us on 01726 845100, although bookings are taken a maximum of four weeks in advance. Torbay Holiday Helper Network (THHN)
Torbay Holiday Helper Network (THHN) is a charity based in Torbay but they help families from all across the UK. They provide free holidays to families who have children living with serious illness, bereaved families who have lost a child or parent and to families who have a terminally ill parent. You can not apply for holidays yourself, holiday applications must be made by a registered charity support worker, NHS medical professional or social worker who will then refer you directly to us once your application has been successful. We can only include immediate family members in a free THHN holiday; please do not include extended family on the application form. Single parent families may however include an extra adult if needed. Assistance in finding accommodation for extended family members at their own expense can be discussed with our holiday liaison officer whilst processing the application.

Break Charity – Residential Short Breaks
Break makes life better for children and young people on the edge of care, in care and leaving care. Working across East Anglia, the charity firmly believes that every child, no matter their start in life, deserves a bright future. Break specialises in providing short breaks for young people with disabilities and complex needs, offering regular planned stays. We have a short breaks home that provides a safe, warm, stable and thoughtful environment for up to six young people between the ages of 5 and 18. Our team support young people to enjoy a range of activities, build their confidence, independence skills and form friendships. The activities we provide are tailored to each young person. These can include roller-skating, swimming, soft play, going to the cinema and even visiting the circus. Many of these short breaks help to stimulate and develop new interests from having experienced many activities for the very first time. Over the course of a typical year Break provide over 1000 nights of short breaks. We see fantastic progress as young people demonstrate more patience, sharing, developing relationships and growing in confidence - each short break helps create long term benefits. To access the Residential Short Breaks service, parents and carers will need to seek a referral from their local authority through a social worker.

Castle Hill Young People’s Centre
Castle Hill Young People's Centre offers a wide range of activities and services for children and young people, including paid after-school and holiday care, additional sessions during Easter and summer holidays, arts and crafts, community events, computer gaming, cookery/baking, and multi-sports sessions. The centre provides free Junior Youth Club for 9-12 year olds, free Play Activities for 4-12 year olds (with 4-year-olds needing to be in reception), and free Youth Club for 13-17 year olds. Facilities include an outdoor games area, computers, and a sports club on site. The centre is Ofsted registered and also offers room hire. Staff at Castle Hill Young People's Centre are highly trained, having completed courses in moving and handling, hoist training, medication training Level 2, safeguarding disabled children, working with ADHD, autism, play and leisure for disabled children, eating and drinking with safety and dignity, and more.
