Health and Welfare Deputyships with Irwin Mitchell

Webinar hosted by WellChild and delivered by Irwin Mitchell on Health and Welfare Deputyships

WellChild and Irwin Mitchell share a vision to help build stronger communities. As part of our continued partnership, we have created a Legal section for the Information Hub which covers a range of legal advice and guidance on issues relating to children with complex medical needs.

The first article in the legal section was on Deputyships and Lasting Powers of Attorney, which provides helpful advice if your child lacks (or is likely to lack at 18) the capacity to make their own decisions.

Due to this article’s success, WellChild Family Tree members asked for a webinar to be delivered, focusing on Health and Welfare Deputyships.

The webinar was created and delivered by David York, a Chartered Legal Executive with Irwin Mitchell, and covers:

  • What is a deputyship for personal welfare decisions
  • What does a deputyship do
  • When is a deputyship appropriate
  • Potential difficulties and hurdles
  • How to commence an application
  • Is it necessary to have a Deputyship

You can find more helpful advice and guidance on the Information Hub, which has a range of online articles and resources for families of children with complex medical needs.
