Afasic is the UK charity representing children and young people with speech, language and communication difficulties, working for their inclusion in society and supporting their parents and carers.
They help provide information and support to children, young people, and families affected by Speech, Language and Communication Needs. Their current services include:
- Providing a confidential, specialist telephone helpline service for carers and parents
- Organising online courses for parents of children diagnosed with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
- Organising courses for children with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs who are leaving Primary School and starting Secondary School
- Providing priority information on new/updated publications and events across the UK
- Information booklets that can be purchased from the website, to help with things such as Accessing Speech and Language Therapy or Claiming Benefits https://afasic.org.uk/shop/
The service is free and anyone with a query regarding children and young people with speech and language impairments can use this service. There is no referral required.
