Brent Young Carer Service offers useful information about your rights, details of some of the common challenges you may face as a young carer, and how they can support you. This includes the following:
- Support you and the person that you care for;
- Listen to you;
- Provide information and advice about the specific illness and/or disability the person you are looking after is living with;
- Enable you to meet with other young people in similar situations to you, who understand how you feel;
- Early Health Assessments;
- Advocacy & Representation;
- Young Carers Support Groups and a quarterly Forum; and
- A programme of social and recreational activities.
For some young carers, getting out and about with friends isn’t always an option due to other priorities. Brent Young Carer's job is to make sure that you do. The Young Carers team hosts a range of activities that you will enjoy, and you get the chance to meet up and have fun with hundreds of other young carers you my have not been aware of before.
The Young Adult Carers Service offers specialist advice and support to young adult carers aged 14 – 25, around their transition in education, employment and training. The support worker will advocate your needs and wishes and provide sound advice and support when and where required.
