Simple Stuff Works are a highly specialised equipment and training provider. They can trace their roots all the way back to the early 1980s when John and Liz Goldsmith began their pioneering work with children and adults with complex neurodisability.
They developed equipment as well as ideas that challenged the myth that changes in body shape (scoliosis, hip dislocations and so on) were an inevitable complication that children and families would face. Their daughters Sarah Clayton and Anna Goldsmith continued their work and are now world leading voices in this area.
In 2007 Sarah's oldest daughter was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour aged 6. This ongoing experience is at the heart of everything the organisation does - if they feel an element of what they do is not good enough for Abi then they work to improve it until it is!
The team at Simple Stuff Works can be accessed by anyone who needs advice or information about supported lying or sleep systems.
The website has a booking page where anyone can access the following FREE OF CHARGE:
- Equipment consultations - 45 minutes - booked in collaboration with your physio or OT to determine what equipment would work well and suit the needs of your family.
- An equipment set up or review - 45 minutes - for new equipment set up, or if you want to review a current Simple Stuff Works positioning system. Access to this service is unlimited if you use our equipment - we are here to help.
- Advisor Q&A - 15 min - want a quick chat about an individual you know who may need positioning? Got a burning question you need an answer for quickly? Book a quick Q&A session with one of the team who will be happy to help you!
In addition to these services Sarah Clayton and Anna Goldsmith also provide training for physio and OT teams across the UK.
