The Maypole Project provides a range of support services for children with complex medical needs and their families.
Focusing on family-centred, holistic wellbeing and therapy, their services address the mental health and wellbeing of children with life-limiting, life-shortening, or terminal conditions, as well as supporting parents, siblings, and extended relatives who are impacted due to their caregiving responsibilities. Support is flexible and coordinated to benefit the whole family.
Services
- Counselling and Play Therapy for children and young people. Using creative methods to help both those with complex needs and/or their siblings.
- Adult Counselling for individuals or couples for parents, carers and other family members.
- Specialist social Activity programmes including: youth clubs, holiday activities/outings and 1-1 Buddying (in person or online).
All services can be provided in person and /or online.
Benefits
Activities provide children and siblings the opportunity to build confidence, learn life skills and have fun. They provide peer support and help reduce isolation, support socialisation and friendships, while also providing respite for parents and carers and are provided either in person or online.
Pricing
Therapy Services are charged on a scale according to income / affordability:
- Youth Clubs: £9 per session.
- Holiday Activities: £35 per day.
- 1-1 Buddying Services: In-person – 1 hour £30 (£15 per additional hour), Online – 1 hour £25ph.

Opening Hours
Office hours: Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm
Therapy services: Up to 6pm
Youth clubs: Wednesday & Thursday evenings (during term time))
Daytime activities and outings: School holidays
Online buddying: After school
Eligibility
- Families with a child who has a complex medical need, life-limiting or life shortening condition (including rare and/or genetic conditions).
- And/or SEND where a diagnosis has been made between the ages of 0 – 18 years of age, including pre-birth.
