- In-person service
Wetwheels offers a unique opportunity for disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages – including those with multiple, profound and complex impairments – to access the water. This helps to broaden aspirations, increase confidence and directly impact on health and wellbeing. Wetwheels aim to ensure everyone can access the water with a safe, barrier-free, enriching experience.
Wetwheels experiences for disabled people are provided by a growing network of Wetwheels Operators based around the UK. They are currently operating in Edinburgh, Hamble, Jersey, Solent, South East, South West, Torbay, Yorkshire, and will soon be opening an operator in Cymru.
Wetwheels Edinburgh is the newest addition to the Wetwheels fleet, and her home is Port Edgar, situated just outside Edinburgh. Wetwheels Edinburgh will be operating on the East coast of Scotland, perfectly positioned to access Edinburgh, and numerous other ports and harbours on the banks of the Firth of Forth, such as Dundee, St Andrews, North Berwick, and Anstruther.
The Wetwheels experience is designed to enable every disabled person the chance to experience the excitement of power boating. Wetwheels Edinburgh is truly unique by being fully accessible – not just giving you the chance to be a passenger, but also to take the helm as the skipper – everybody gets the chance to drive!
They have scheduled trips and experiences from our main base in Port Edgar, and these can all be tailored to suit each individual and group. These experiences could include viewing the majestic UNESCO registered Forth Rail Bridge from the sea, meeting the seals and puffins on the local islands, or seeing the Naval Dockyard of Rosyth where the new aircraft carriers were constructed.
They will also be operating outreach programmes to other parts of Scotland, and would welcome enquiries about these if you would like Wetwheels Edinburgh to come to you! Please drop them an email or come in to see them if you would like to discuss this further.
