Beamish Museum
Beamish is a large open air museum with many historic buildings, some of which are not always completely accessible to visitors. To create an authentic feel, there are a variety of ground surfaces, some of which are uneven by nature. There are steep slopes in places, and some buildings and exhibits have stepped access. A Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle operates every day that the museum is open. This is available on-call and is limited to its seated capacity. It is not operating in general service and is solely available for those who require its adaptations, including the wheelchair lift at the rear of the vehicle. There is free accessible parking and accessible toilets throughout the museum including changing places facility. A quiet space is available for those who need it which includes sensory-friendly lights, books and toys. Sensory bags available including headphones for £10 refundable deposit.

Locomotion
Get up close to incredible engineering feats in the World's first railway town. Cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks and museum shop. Museum admission is free. There's no need to pre-book an admission ticket, except for selected events and activities. Sensory packs and ear defenders are available to borrow from the welcome desk. Visual Story to help visitors with additional needs to plan their day available. The museum is fully wheelchair accessible. However parts of the site are open air and visitors will need to use outdoor footpaths.

Stanley Deaf Club
Stanley Deaf Club is a non profitable voluntary group. it is held once a fortnight at Stanley Civic Hall. The group is for deaf children and adults and anyone interested in learning sign language. Deafness can be very isolating and meeting together in our group can break down barriers. Friendly and welcoming group for anyone who is learning sign language or would like to come along and meet the deaf community.

A weekly daytime dance programme for people aged 18+ who are autistic or have a learning disability. Dance classes take place in a modern and accessible dance studio. Haystax is a peaceful retreat for the whole family, where individuals with additional needs are welcomed and understood so that the whole family can relax and enjoy some quality time together. Haystax is a family ran business and all staff have some form of additional needs. They are a safe environment for all, what ever age or ability. Currently they have a coffee shop, sensory rooms, wild woodland play area, Noo Noo's Forest School sessions, parties, and 2 wheelchair accessible holiday lodges. In 2024 they plan for the farm animals and pet corner to be completed and open to the public, for customers to enjoy, interact and feed the animals.

They are able to loan Toys and Equipment to children who are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance, the loan period is 6 months. It is a free service.
