A new partnership with Build-A-Bear has enabled WellChild to reach out to even more children and young people with complex health needs and their families. Build-A-Bear began supporting WellChild in stores at the end of 2019 and have so far donated over 5,000 teddy bears to families who could benefit from our support.

In the past two months WellChild Nurses and Parent Ambassadors have been distributing the bears to families across the UK, giving them a ‘WellChild Hug’. The bears are being delivered along with information cards about the WellChild Family Tree. We are pleased to have reached thousands of new families who could benefit from our support, some of whom had never heard of WellChild before.

The WellChild Family Tree is a growing network of families from across the UK, all of whom have children with exceptional health needs. Through the online group, coffee mornings and family events, the WellChild Family Tree enables parents to feel included, supported and listened to.

Over the festive period WellChild distributed 5,030 teddy bears to families of children with complex health needs across the UK. The teddy bears were distributed by WellChild Parent Ambassadors at coffee mornings, Christmas parties, and to patients on visits by WellChild Nurses.

We will continue distributing the Build-A-Bear teddies so that we bring the benefits of the WellChild Family Tree to even more children, young people and families. A huge thank you to Build-A-Bear, WellChild Parent Ambassadors and WellChild Nurses for making this happen.
