Freedom Wings
“Freedom Wings,” organised by Freedom in the Air (FITA), provides an incredible opportunity for individuals with disabilities to experience the thrill of flying. Freedom Wings introduces young people to the freedom of flying. Flying allows disabled people to participate on equal terms with able-bodied individuals. In the air, everyone flies at the same speed, transcending limitations. Participants learn about aircraft, visit hangars, and receive safety briefings. Participants enjoy a private 20-minute flight in a light aircraft, where they can even take control if they wish. Taking control of an aircraft, even once, is a significant achievement. It rebuilds confidence, restores self-esteem, and empowers individuals to explore their potential. The aircraft is fitted with hand controls, enabling pilots with lower limb disabilities to operate the rudder pedals using their hands. Freedom Wings days create lasting memories, inspire confidence, and open up new horizons for those who take to the skies.
