Special People
Special People offer a wide variety of services, including: -Short Breaks: Their care plans are tailored to meet all of your requirements and will take into account all of your likes and dislike. Either in your home or out and about there’s a service plan just for you. - Community Support: They support service users to participate in the activities that they enjoy. This enables them to stay active within the community. - Overnight Care: Their support workers can support clients 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You can be rest assured that all of your needs are taken care of, no matter what the time is. - Holiday services: If you are planning a holiday either in this country or abroad, Special People are able to assist you by providing a trained support worker to accompany you and your family. They are also about to help you source: ABA Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Teaching Assistants or Nursery Workers.

Family Based Short Breaks Team
The Family Based Short Breaks Team offers a regular overnight or weekend breaks in another family home to children or young people with disabilities. Eligible children and young people will have been assessed as needing this service through a social work assessment by the Disabled Children's Social Work Team (DCT). Family Based Short Breaks gives the child an opportunity to meet new friends and have some fun while giving the family valuable time to relax and recharge their batteries. This service is free.

Aberdeen Park Nursery
Aberdeen Park Nursery is for children aged 6 months to 4 years. The nursery has a lovely baby room with its own outdoor space; one large, light and airy room for 2 to 3-year olds to play and learn with lots of cosy spaces, and a third room that they use for small group activities and learning experiences; an exciting garden for outdoor learning and a great family atmosphere. They aim to meet children's social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs in a safe, friendly environment. They value parents and carers input and make every endeavour to work in partnership with them. Children learn through play and by exploring and developing their individual interests. The setting welcomes children with SEND and they are committed to working with parents and other professionals to provide good inclusive practice. The Islington link Area SENCO provides support, advice and training re children with SEND. One staff member has attended PECS; Sensory Circuits training; Speech and Language development training. One staff member has gained a Level 3 SENCO certificate and a second staff member is currently studying it. They have experience in working with a range of SEN needs, e.g. autistic spectrum condition, complex syndromes/disorders etc. Short term plans are in place and children’s needs are met by planning focus learning experiences that support children’s learning and development. Fees are on a sliding scale depending on household income and age of child.

Targeted Short Breaks for children and young people with disabilities
The Child Development and Therapy Centre co-ordinate the targeted Short Break offer. This is for children and young people aged 4-18 years whose families meet the criteria. This offer consists of: - A weekly session at a 3 hour weekend play or youth group (A charge of £5 per session will charged from 1st January 2020) - 7 sessions per year at a short break authorised school holiday play or youth scheme. (A charge of £10 per 6 hour session will be charged from 1st January 2020) If you feel you might struggle to pay these fees, please contact Children and Families Hub as they may be able to help. Your family is eligible if: - Your child has a permanent and severe disability or health condition. Their disability impacts on your family's normal everyday activities and you feel your child would enjoy a short break. - Your child isn't able to go to youth clubs, after school activities or other community groups. They aren't able to have time away from you with extended family and friends etc. Your family must also meet two of the following criteria: - Your child has behaviours that you find challenging. These behaviours might present a risk of harm to themselves or to others. - You are a single parent with no extended family support. - You have more than one child with a disability, or you have other children under 18 years whose lives are affected because of the support needed for their brother or sister - You have a disability or diagnosed health need which affects your ability to care for your child - Your sleep is disturbed because of your child's needs

Oakwell Children’s Short Breaks Home
Oakwell is a short break home specialising in personalised short breaks for children and young people up to 18 with a range of additional needs including: - Intellectual disability - Physical disability - Sensory impairments Oakwell has: - Five bedrooms - A large sensory garden with direct access from the bedrooms and the lounge / diner - A fully equipped interactive sensory room - A hydrotherapy pool with light and sound system - Interactive communication systems for children, eg eye gaze technology - Equipment to support children’s mobility, eg tracking hoist systems, wet rooms, height adjustable baths, wheelchair accessible vehicles Oakwell provides a range of planned short breaks, from a few hours to a few days and occasionally longer, depending on the assessed needs of the child and their family. They aim to provide targeted support to improve outcomes for all children and young people during their time at Oakwell. Support may focus on learning independence skills, enhancing communication or exploring sensory needs within a specialist multi-sensory environment – but most of all to have fun.

Eden House is a short break home specialising in personalised short breaks for children and young people up to 18 on the autism spectrum and / or who have associated developmental complex needs. Eden House has: - Two bedrooms upstairs and a third bedroom in the attached Eden flat. - A low arousal environment - A spacious safe garden - A sensory room Eden House provides a range of planned short breaks, from a few hours to a few days and occasionally longer, depending on the assessed needs of the child and their family. They aim to provide targeted support to improve outcomes for all children and young people during their time at Eden House. Support may focus on learning independence skills, enhancing communication and socialisation skills, supporting with sleep issues, understanding sensory needs and coping with anxiety – but most of all to have fun.

Universal Short Breaks: Inclusion Support Service. Island of Jersey
This service is open to all those in need of support to access activities in the community. There is no formal assessment required for this service. It is open to families of children with disabilities and to organisations needing support and advice. They offer: - Information and guidance on finding the best activity for your child. - One to one support, when needed, for an initial introductory period. - Guidance and support to organisations to ensure their activities are inclusive. - Support and training so that staff are confident supporting all children and young people.

SCIP (Special needs Community Information Point) is an information and advice service for families with children/young people from birth to 25-year-olds with a disability or additional needs. This is a free service offered to families in Cambridgeshire. By joining SCIP you get: - SCIP Card - Activity Passport - Email updates on local events and activities - Request information specific to your child Families can request information for example: if you need help to find a support group, a hairdresser who has experience of children with additional needs, information on grants, transport, or youth clubs in your area. Their designs aim to reduce some of the social stigma attached to disabilities by making functional and beautiful products for amazing young people. From iPad cases to rocking horses, Oxy-Gems and surfboards, the award-winning team is brimming with ideas and solutions to help. Their products are desirable and exciting, not just functional. Their products promote a child’s social inclusion, peer expectance, and enable them to participate in everyday activities that are so often closed to them. CIC help Children from birth to 16 who have a brain condition and all their services are free of charge.
