Boscombe Pier Beach, Bournemouth
Boscombe Pier Beach has designed fully disabled accessible beach huts – available for hire at Bournemouth’s multi-award winning Boscombe seafront. The huts incorporate high quality design, visual flair and unique function. The inside of each hut is a highly adaptable and flexible space capable of accommodating up to four wheelchair users at once. Other features include: Fully accessible public toilet, featuring internal shower unit. Electric mobility scooter charging point and improved accessible parking bays, ‘Changing Places’ facility incorporating change bed, toilet, sink, shower and ceiling mounted tracking hoist (access key from nearby Boscombe Beach Office) and a Beach access wheelchair (from Boscombe Beach Office). Please note, the wheelchair is available on a first come first served basis and a fully refundable £50 cash deposit is required. No wheelchair bookings can be made in advance. Boscombe beach has Mobi-Mats to help wheelchair users move easily from the promenade onto the sand and closer to the sea in place between May and September.

Sumerleaze Beach, Bude
Summerleaze Beach, like most of the beaches in Cornwall, is a beautiful part of the world to visit. At Summerleaze Beach you’ll find a tarmacked path which leads directly to the beach from the car park as well as a flat viewing area and level access to everything that is on site. The amount of sand can vary after stormy weather but the access is generally good and it is maintained by Cornwall County Council. There are also wheelchair friendly toilets and the various businesses in the vicinity are also easily accessible. The beach has accessible beach huts with a large, flat viewing area which are bookable via the Summerleaze Beach website. If you have limited mobility and don’t have a wheelchair of your own, adapted wheelchairs suitable for use on the beach are available to hire from the beach office too or by calling the Big Blue Surf School on 01288 331764. There is a changing places toilet with a hoist at Summerleaze Car Park, Cornwall, EX23 8HN.

Sea Life Manchester
SEA LIFE Manchester is an aquarium located in the heart of Manchester, England. It is home to over 5,000 sea creatures from around the world, including sharks, rays, jellyfish, seahorses, and many more. Visitors can journey through 50 different displays featuring everything from tropical sharks and rays to sea turtles, jellyfish, and clownfish. One of the highlights of the aquarium is the Ocean Tunnel, where visitors can walk through an underwater tunnel while surrounded by giant sea creatures. SEA LIFE Blackpool offers a range of interactive exhibits and activities, including a rock pool experience where visitors can touch and learn about crabs, starfish, and other creatures. There’s also a behind-the-scenes tour where visitors can learn about the care and feeding of the marine animals, and even get the chance to feed some of them themselves. For those feeling adventurous, there’s the opportunity to dive with sharks in the aquarium’s Ocean Tank. Wheelchairs can access all displays throughout the aquarium and a lift to navigate between the floors. There is tactile signage throughout the aquarium, quiet sessions available and noise cancelling headphones if needed. There is the option to contact them through SignLive if you need a BSL interpreter.

They offer private bookings for families and friends, as well as open trips for individuals to meet like-minded people and share adventures. They can create custom adventures based on specific requirements, both locally in the Lake District and abroad.

Martin Mere Wetland Centre
With 600 acres of wetland scenery, Martin Mere is a great place to connect with nature. The reserve has around 2,000 different species of birds, mammals, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mini-beasts. There are a variety of talks and tours throughout the day and play areas for kids to explore. The paths around the waterfowl gardens are all paved and accessible with benches at regular intervals as resting points and the nature trail is fully paved. Most of the hides have lower windows to allow for wheelchair users to view the wildlife and bird books to help with identification. The boat and canoe safari also includes spaces for 2 wheelchairs. Other accessibility includes accessible map, quiet sessions, long handled nets to enable wheelchair users to participate in pond dipping, cushioned trays for craft activities to enable wheelchair users to participate, fidget toys, coloured acetates and magnifiers. Visual story and and sensory bags (£15 refundable deposit needed) available at request. The on site café caters for a variety of different diets including coeliac, gluten intolerance and nut allergies. Access is via automatic doors and table service provided. Free disabled parking and blue badge holder spaces. Specific quiet spaces designated around the park and are highlighted on the accessible map. Portable hearing loop, large print menu and safety information available on request. Front of house staff trained in basic BSL and a designated Level 1 BSL trained member of staff. 4 Accessible toilets around the site including one toilet with a hoist and adjustable changing table and a stoma-friendly shelf. Beamish Museum
Beamish is a large open air museum with many historic buildings, some of which are not always completely accessible to visitors. To create an authentic feel, there are a variety of ground surfaces, some of which are uneven by nature. There are steep slopes in places, and some buildings and exhibits have stepped access. A Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle operates every day that the museum is open. This is available on-call and is limited to its seated capacity. It is not operating in general service and is solely available for those who require its adaptations, including the wheelchair lift at the rear of the vehicle. There is free accessible parking and accessible toilets throughout the museum including changing places facility. A quiet space is available for those who need it which includes sensory-friendly lights, books and toys. Sensory bags available including headphones for £10 refundable deposit.

This is a free service offered to families in Cambridgeshire. By joining SCIP you get: - SCIP Card - Activity Passport - Email updates on local events and activities - Request information specific to your child Families can request information for example: if you need help to find a support group, a hairdresser who has experience of children with additional needs, information on grants, transport, or youth clubs in your area.
