Alpha Swim Knutsford
Alpha Swim lessons are adapted swimming lessons for young people with an impairment or additional need follow the same criteria as the Learn to Swim Scheme up to Stage 4 but at a slower rate and try to make the lessons/tasks fun orientated Alpha Swim is a continuous course of swimming lessons for young people with a disability or additional need. These lessons will be a basic introduction to swimming to encourage children to have fun, be more relaxed in the water whilst learning basic water skills. The lessons will be adapted to meet the needs of the child where possible and will have a smaller teacher to swimmer ratio. Alpha Swim is for: - Any young people with a disability or additional need from aged 4 (who are eligible to start reception year) to 17. - Not on Learn to Swim Scheme or receiving 1 to 1 lessons. - Has limited or no swimming experience. Inclusivity features include: - Disability friendly changing areas - Disabled access pool hoist - Easy access to poolside

Try out a range of adapted bikes such as trikes and tandems and learn basic cycling skills, suitable for all ages and abilities. The fortnightly session at Macclesfield Leisure Centre has bikes that allow participation, with support from staff or carers, even if they cannot cycle on their own. These sessions run on Sunday and will be small numbers – maximum of 6 children per session, booking is essential.
