Knowsley Safari Park
Knowsley Safari Park in the UK offers a diverse array of animals and thrilling experiences. The Safari Drive, spanning 5 miles, showcases lions, baboons, rhinos, and more in natural-like habitats. The Baboon Bus provides a 1-2 hour ride through wild enclosures where playful baboons might join you. On foot, explore sea lions, meerkats, giraffes, and tigers, including the Russian-themed Tiger Trail home to Sinda and Miron. Knowsley Safari is an ideal day out for those in wheelchairs or with pushchairs due to our level footpaths. All of the animal viewing areas along our Foot Safari are accessible by wheelchairs and pushchairs. Wheelchair spaces are available for the Sea Lion Display. Disabled parking available, two designated adult changing rooms with a hoist and further accessible disabled toilets around the site, wheelchair and mobility scooter for hire.

All Thrive
A multi-sensory, inclusive play space where you and your child can explore and have fun whilst engaging the senses! There are 4 rooms to explore including a sensory gym, play room, sensory room and Zen den. Each room has a video which can be viewed before attending. SEN sessions also available. Disabled facilities include a wet room with ceiling hoist, height adjustable mobile changing bed and wheelchair accessible toilet. Parking is available on nearly car park free for an hour and then £1 for 3 hours

Anyone Can is a charity providing outdoor adventure opportunities for people living with disabilities. They start with the abilities of their clients and adapt activities to suit a wide range of needs, ensuring everyone can participate in authentic adventures. They offer various activities like open canoeing, canoe sailing, day boat sailing, yacht sailing, rock climbing, and more, all tailored and adapted to different mobility, communication, autism, health, visual, and cognitive needs. They offer private bookings for families and friends, as well as open trips for individuals to meet like-minded people and share adventures. They can create custom adventures based on specific requirements, both locally in the Lake District and abroad.

Martin Mere Wetland Centre
With 600 acres of wetland scenery, Martin Mere is a great place to connect with nature. The reserve has around 2,000 different species of birds, mammals, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mini-beasts. There are a variety of talks and tours throughout the day and play areas for kids to explore. The paths around the waterfowl gardens are all paved and accessible with benches at regular intervals as resting points and the nature trail is fully paved. Most of the hides have lower windows to allow for wheelchair users to view the wildlife and bird books to help with identification. The boat and canoe safari also includes spaces for 2 wheelchairs. Other accessibility includes accessible map, quiet sessions, long handled nets to enable wheelchair users to participate in pond dipping, cushioned trays for craft activities to enable wheelchair users to participate, fidget toys, coloured acetates and magnifiers. Visual story and and sensory bags (£15 refundable deposit needed) available at request. The on site café caters for a variety of different diets including coeliac, gluten intolerance and nut allergies. Access is via automatic doors and table service provided. Free disabled parking and blue badge holder spaces. Specific quiet spaces designated around the park and are highlighted on the accessible map. Portable hearing loop, large print menu and safety information available on request. Front of house staff trained in basic BSL and a designated Level 1 BSL trained member of staff. 4 Accessible toilets around the site including one toilet with a hoist and adjustable changing table and a stoma-friendly shelf. Wheelchairs are available for free and bookable mobility scooter available (£10 non-refundable deposit required).

Beamish Museum
Beamish is a large open air museum with many historic buildings, some of which are not always completely accessible to visitors. To create an authentic feel, there are a variety of ground surfaces, some of which are uneven by nature. There are steep slopes in places, and some buildings and exhibits have stepped access. A Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle operates every day that the museum is open. This is available on-call and is limited to its seated capacity. It is not operating in general service and is solely available for those who require its adaptations, including the wheelchair lift at the rear of the vehicle. There is free accessible parking and accessible toilets throughout the museum including changing places facility. A quiet space is available for those who need it which includes sensory-friendly lights, books and toys. Sensory bags available including headphones for £10 refundable deposit.

Wetwheels offers a unique opportunity for disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages – including those with multiple, profound and complex impairments – to access the water. This helps to broaden aspirations, increase confidence and directly impact on health and wellbeing. Wetwheels aim to ensure everyone can access the water with a safe, barrier-free, enriching experience. Wetwheels experiences for disabled people are provided by a growing network of Wetwheels Operators based around the UK. They are currently operating in Edinburgh, Hamble, Jersey, Solent, South East, South West, Torbay, Yorkshire, and will soon be opening an operator in Cymru. Wetwheels South East has her home in the Port of Dover, so is perfectly positioned to operate across the region, from Eastbourne to Central London. The Wetwheels experience is designed to enable every disabled person the chance to experience the excitement of power boating. Wetwheels South East is truly unique by being fully accessible – not just giving you the chance to be a passenger, but also to take the helm as the skipper – everybody gets the chance to drive! They have scheduled trips and experiences from the Port of Dover, which can be bespoke to your individual group. So whether it’s a trip Seal watching, experience the coastline or view the iconic White Cliffs of Dover from a new perspective, they can accommodate everybody. They occasionally offer special trips or outreach weeks at other ports such as Eastbourne, Chatham and Ramsgate, based around special events and times of the year. Wetwheels Foundation (Edinburgh)
Wetwheels offers a unique opportunity for disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages – including those with multiple, profound and complex impairments – to access the water. This helps to broaden aspirations, increase confidence and directly impact on health and wellbeing. Wetwheels aim to ensure everyone can access the water with a safe, barrier-free, enriching experience. Wetwheels experiences for disabled people are provided by a growing network of Wetwheels Operators based around the UK. They are currently operating in Edinburgh, Hamble, Jersey, Solent, South East, South West, Torbay, Yorkshire, and will soon be opening an operator in Cymru. Wetwheels Edinburgh is the newest addition to the Wetwheels fleet, and her home is Port Edgar, situated just outside Edinburgh. Wetwheels Edinburgh will be operating on the East coast of Scotland, perfectly positioned to access Edinburgh, and numerous other ports and harbours on the banks of the Firth of Forth, such as Dundee, St Andrews, North Berwick, and Anstruther. The Wetwheels experience is designed to enable every disabled person the chance to experience the excitement of power boating. Wetwheels Edinburgh is truly unique by being fully accessible – not just giving you the chance to be a passenger, but also to take the helm as the skipper – everybody gets the chance to drive! They have scheduled trips and experiences from our main base in Port Edgar, and these can all be tailored to suit each individual and group. These experiences could include viewing the majestic UNESCO registered Forth Rail Bridge from the sea, meeting the seals and puffins on the local islands, or seeing the Naval Dockyard of Rosyth where the new aircraft carriers were constructed. They will also be operating outreach programmes to other parts of Scotland, and would welcome enquiries about these if you would like Wetwheels Edinburgh to come to you! Radnor Park Play Area
Radnor Park Play Area is an accessible playground for wheelchair users. There is a fence around the whole playground. The gate is wide enough for a wheelchair to fit through. The paths and entrances to and within the playground are flat and step-free, and wide enough for a wheelchair user. You can get to all the equipment in the playground without using steps. The roundabout is flat to the ground so a wheelchair could roll onto it. There is a quiet area to hide in; a garden, with plants to smell and touch; some natural landscaping; a bench away from the main equipment; and a bench near the main equipment. There is an accessible toilet.

Archerfield Walled Garden
Archerfield Walled Garden has a spacious garden shop, a magical fairy trail, a garden cafe, a food market, an 18th century walled garden, an enclosed play park and extensive grounds. Archerfield Walled Garden is largely wheelchair accessible. All of the entrances have double doors. There are four blue badge holder parking bays, located close to our entrance. There is an accessible toilet within the main building which has an electric adult size height adjustable change table. The Car Park, Garden Café, Bar, Play Park, Food Market, Gift Shop and Toilets are all on one level with lots of space. Our Courtyard, which is often used for events, is lightly gravelled. The Fairy Trail is on a natural path through the woods and hasn’t been altered for accessibility, however, there have been lots of buggies and wheelchairs on the trail without any issues. They now have a wheelchair available for visitors. If you would like to use it, please ask staff at the Garden Shop till when you arrive. This venue has an open air car park with a tarmac surface. There are 4 Blue Badge parking bays.
